There's no downtown Geist with a founding date, because Geist was never chartered as a town — it's the shoreline community that grew up after Geist Reservoir filled to capacity in March 1943, flooding the Fall Creek valley and the small village of Germantown beneath it. What exists along the shoreline today is almost entirely large, custom-built homes dating from the 1980s forward.
